These are the three documents that govern your use of Scriptts. They are written to be read — plain words, short sentences, and no small print. If anything here is unclear, email support@scriptts.app and we will explain it.

Version 1.4 · effective 18 August 2026 · Scoris Ventures Pty Ltd (ABN 62 697 021 202), trading as Scriptts

Terms of Service

Effective 18 August 2026. These terms are a contract between you and Scoris Ventures Pty Ltd.

The short version

You keep everything you make and you can sell it. We charge what we said we would charge, and we tell you 30 days before that changes. You must tell your audience the voices are synthetic, and you must not use them to impersonate a real person. Nothing here takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, and nothing here stops you taking a complaint to a tribunal or to the ACCC.

The short version is a summary and is not the contract. Where it and the clauses below differ, the clauses govern.

1.Who you are contracting with

Scriptts is operated by Scoris Ventures Pty Ltd (ABN 62 697 021 202, ACN 697 021 202), an Australian proprietary company. “Scriptts” is our trading name. In these terms we, us and our mean Scoris Ventures Pty Ltd, and you means the person who holds the account.

These terms apply to the Scriptts website and application at scriptts.app, scripttsapp.com and scriptts.com.au, and to everything you do with them.

You can reach us at support@scriptts.app or on +61 411 085 700. Our business address for Scriptts is 3507B/100 Harbour Esplanade, Docklands, Victoria 3008, Australia. Email reaches us fastest.

2.What Scriptts does

Scriptts turns a written script into spoken audio and video. You write or import a script, assign characters, optionally translate the script into other languages, and export the result as an MP3 or an MP4. The voices are synthesised by computer. They are not recordings of human actors.

Translation and speech synthesis are performed for us by Microsoft Azure. Which suppliers receive your text, and where they are located, is set out in the Privacy Policy.

3.You must be 18 or over

You must be at least 18 years old to hold a Scriptts account. You confirm your age when you sign up. We set the minimum at 18 because a subscription is a contract, and in several Australian states a contract of this kind with a person under 18 can be set aside by them.

Using Scriptts with under-18s present

You may show Scriptts to people under 18, and you may play them what you have made — a teacher may use it in a classroom, for example. What you may not do is let a person under 18 hold an account, sign in, or operate the account themselves. The account holder remains responsible for everything done with the account, including anything typed into it by somebody else.

If we find an under-18 account

We will suspend it, refund the unused portion of any subscription paid on it, and delete the account and its contents. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete a minor’s account at support@scriptts.app and we will confirm in writing when it is done.

4.Your account

You need an account to use Scriptts. Keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly at support@scriptts.app if you think someone else has got into your account. You are responsible for what is done through your account, except to the extent it results from something we did wrong.

One account is for one person. Sharing a login with other people is not permitted; if a team needs access, each person needs their own account.

You can close your account yourself at any time, from the account menu. What happens to your information when you do is described in the Privacy Policy.

5.Where Scriptts is available, and the currency you pay in

Countries we sell to

Anyone, anywhere, may look at the site, read these terms and register their interest. Subscriptions are currently sold in Australia only, and we can only accept payment from customers there. We expect to open other countries. When we do, the country will be listed on this page before subscriptions go on sale there, and the rest of this clause tells you how buying from outside Australia will work.

Countries we cannot sell to

We do not sell to, and will not accept payment from, any person or country subject to Australian sanctions, or to sanctions that bind our payment provider or your card issuer. We may refuse or reverse a payment, and close an account, where accepting it would breach those laws or the rules of the card schemes. If we do that to an account that has already paid, we refund the part of the period you did not receive.

The currency you are charged in

Every price on this site is shown in the currency you will actually be charged in, and it is the total you pay us. Today that currency is Australian dollars (AUD) for every customer, wherever you are. When we open another country we may price in that country’s currency; either way, your checkout will show the currency and the total before you confirm, and we will never charge you in a different currency from the one you were shown.

Your bank's charges, and your country's taxes

If the currency we charge in is not the currency of your card, your bank or card issuer may add its own foreign transaction fee and use its own exchange rate. That charge is between you and your bank: we do not receive it, we cannot see it, and we cannot refund it. The amount that leaves your account may therefore differ from the price we showed you.

Where your own country charges GST, VAT, sales tax or duty on a digital service bought from overseas, and that tax was not included in the price at checkout, paying it is your responsibility. If we are ever required to collect that tax ourselves, we will show it as a separate line at checkout before you confirm.

Who you are buying from

You are buying from Scoris Ventures Pty Ltd (ABN 62 697 021 202), a company incorporated in Australia and operating from Victoria, Australia. We are the seller and the merchant of record for every subscription, wherever you are in the world. Our contact details are in clause 1, and clause 18 tells you how to complain.

What this will look like on your statement

Your card or bank statement will not say Scriptts. It will show a line beginning with SCORIS VENTURES PTY LTD — the company named in clause 1 — and your bank may shorten it.

If you see that name and do not recognise it, it is us. Please email support@scriptts.app before you dispute the charge with your bank. We will find the payment and sort it out, and it will be faster than a dispute.

If you are outside Australia

Clause 8 gives you the benefit of the Australian Consumer Law, and we apply it to every customer regardless of where they live. If you buy from outside Australia, you also keep any consumer rights of your own country that cannot be excluded by contract — those rights apply in addition to clause 8, never instead of it.

6.Plans, prices and what you get

All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD) and are the total you pay us. There are no additional fees, no setup cost and no cancellation fee. If you are outside Australia, clause 5 explains the currency you are charged in, your bank’s possible foreign transaction fee, and tax in your own country.

PlanAllowancePriceBilling
7-Day Demo2,000 charactersFreeOne 7-day trial, does not renew
Monthly50,000 characters per month$6 per monthRenews every month until cancelled
Annual75,000 characters per month$59 per yearRenews every 12 months until cancelled
Annual-Pro150,000 characters per month$99 per yearRenews every 12 months until cancelled

The allowance is measured in characters of text sent for translation, and it resets on the same day of each calendar month. Re-translating text we have already translated for you does not count against your allowance, because it costs us nothing. Speech synthesis is not counted against the allowance.

Unused allowance does not carry over to the next month. If you reach your allowance, translation stops until the next month begins or until you move to a larger plan; nothing you have already made is taken away, and any export still inside its 30-day window (clause 10) stays downloadable.

Exports from the free 7-Day Demo carry a Scriptts watermark — a mark on the video and a spoken line in the audio. Every paid plan exports without it.

Paid plans are not on sale yet

We are not able to take payment at the moment, so the paid plans above cannot currently be bought. The plans and prices are shown so you can see what is coming. Until payment is available, the only plan you can obtain by signing up is the free 7-Day Demo, and any paid plan on an account has been granted by us directly. We will update this page when that changes.

7.Payment, renewal and cancelling

When you get access

Scriptts is a service you use in your browser. There is nothing to ship and nothing to wait for: your plan is active and available to use immediately once payment succeeds, from the account you are already signed in to. If a payment succeeds but your account has not changed within a few minutes, email us at support@scriptts.app and we will fix it.

Renewal

Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period — every month for the Monthly plan, and every 12 months for the Annual and Annual-Pro plans — and we charge the payment method on your account until you cancel.

Before every annual renewal, we will remind you

We will email you before each annual plan renews, telling you the date it renews, the amount, and how to cancel. You will not be charged for a further year without that reminder having been sent.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your account menu — Cancel paid plan— in a few clicks. We will not make you phone us, and there is no cancellation fee. When you cancel, your plan continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stops: billing ends, and so does your ability to create new work. We do not automatically refund the remainder of a period you chose to leave early, though your rights in clause 8 are unaffected.

You can undo a cancellation at any point before it takes effect. Once the plan has actually ended there is nothing to reinstate, and starting again means choosing a plan.

Cancelling your plan does not close your account

After your plan ends you can still sign in, and any export still inside its 30-day window stays available to download (clause 10). We do not delete your account because you stopped paying, and cancelling never shortens that window — but it does not extend it either, so download anything you still want.

Three separate things, and doing one never does another: Cancel paid plan stops the billing; Unsubscribe (the link in any marketing email) stops those emails; Delete account removes everything and is permanent.

Failed payments

If a payment fails we will tell you and try again. If it still cannot be taken, your plan reverts to no plan. Your account stays, your scripts are in your browser and untouched, and any export still inside its 30-day window stays available to download.

8.Refunds and your consumer rights

Your Australian Consumer Law rights come first

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded — including that they will be supplied with due care and skill, and that they will be fit for any purpose you told us about.

If Scriptts is not supplied with due care and skill, is not fit for a purpose you told us about, or otherwise fails a consumer guarantee, you are entitled to a remedy and we will provide it. For a major failure you may cancel and get a refund, or keep your subscription and be compensated for the difference in value. For a problem that is not major we will fix it free of charge, and if we cannot fix it within a reasonable time you can then cancel and get a refund.

Our own refund policy applies in addition to those rights, not instead of them: we do not give refunds simply because you have changed your mind. If you ask us for a refund for any other reason we will consider it on its merits, and we will tell you our reasons in writing.

You can read about your rights at the ACCC: Consumer rights and guarantees.

9.The free 7-Day Demo

Every new account starts on the free 7-Day Demo. It runs for 7 days from the day you sign up or until you have used 2,000 characters, whichever comes first. We will tell you before it ends.

The 7-Day Demo does not turn into a paid plan on its own and you will never be charged automatically at the end of it. When it ends you can still sign in and download any export still inside its 30-day window (clause 10); you just cannot make anything new until you choose a paid plan.

One free 7-Day Demo per person.

10.What you make is yours

You own the scripts you write and the audio and video you export. We do not claim any ownership of them. You may use them for anything you like, including commercially — publish them, sell them, put them in a product — subject only to clause 11 and the Acceptable Use Policy.

You give us permission to store, process and transmit your content only so far as we need to in order to run the service for you — for example to send your text to be translated, to synthesise it into speech, and to hold a finished export for the period below. That permission ends when you delete the content or close your account. We do not use your content to train anything, and we do not sell it or share it for advertising.

How long we keep your exports — please download them

We keep a finished MP3 or MP4 for 30 days, then delete it automatically. That applies on every plan, paid or free — it is a storage rule, not a plan benefit, and nothing you do to your subscription lengthens or shortens it. Please download your exports when they are ready.

Your scripts are not affected, because we never had them. Your scripts and projects are kept in your own browser, not on our servers, so deleting an export never touches the work behind it. You can re-render at any time, and re-rendering does not use any of your character allowance. Use Save in the toolbar to keep a copy of a project as a file on your own computer — that copy is yours and we cannot lose it for you, but equally we cannot restore it if you do.

We tell you this before you start a render as well as here, because it changes what you should do when one finishes.

You promise that you have the rights to whatever you put into Scriptts — the text, any images you add, and any voice or likeness your output represents. This is a requirement Microsoft imposes on us and we are required to pass it on to you.

We own Scriptts itself: the software, the site, the name, and the Scriptts logo. Nothing in these terms gives you any right in those, beyond the right to use the service.

11.Synthetic voices — what you must tell your audience

When you publish or distribute anything made with Scriptts, you must make clear that the voices are computer-generated. You must not present a Scriptts export as a genuine recording of a real person.

This is a requirement of our agreement with Microsoft, whose speech service produces the voices. Microsoft requires anyone building on it to disclose the synthetic nature of the voices so that listeners are not deceived, and so that they cannot be used to deceive others. It is a contractual requirement, not an Australian legal one — but it binds us, so we pass it on to you, and it is a condition of using Scriptts.

How you disclose it is up to you: a line in the description, a note in the credits, or a spoken statement all work. What matters is that a reasonable listener is not misled into thinking they are hearing a real person.

The related restrictions — no impersonating a real person without their consent, and no politicians or government officials at all — are in the Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these terms.

12.Things you must not do with the service

You must not:

  • copy, scrape or bulk-extract the site, the application, or anything in it, by any automated means;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or try to derive the source code of Scriptts, except where you are permitted to by law;
  • resell, sublicense or rent access to Scriptts itself, or share your login (the things you make with it are yours to sell — see clause 10);
  • use Scriptts, or information obtained from it, to build a competing product;
  • interfere with the service, get around its limits or security, or use it in a way that degrades it for other people;
  • use it in any way that breaks the Acceptable Use Policy.

If you break this clause we may suspend or close your account under clause 15. That is our remedy, alongside anything a court may order.

13.Referrals

Every account has a personal referral link. If someone signs up through your link and later pays for a subscription, you earn free months — one free month on the Monthly plan and two on the Annual and Annual-Pro plans, per person, with no limit. Free months are credited to your account and reduce what you next pay.

A reward is earned when the person you referred actually pays. If their payment is later reversed, the reward is reversed too. We do not pay rewards for accounts you create yourself, or for accounts we reasonably believe were created to obtain rewards, and we may withhold a reward while we look into it — we will tell you if we do, and why.

Rewards have no cash value and cannot be transferred. We can change the reward for future referrals on 30 days’ notice; rewards you have already earned are not affected.

14.Keeping the service running

We work to keep Scriptts available, but we do not promise it will never be unavailable. We may need to take it down for maintenance, and parts of it depend on suppliers whose own outages we cannot control.

We may change how Scriptts works and add or remove features. If we remove something significant that you are paying for, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice and you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of the unused part of what you have paid.

Voices, languages and other supplier-provided features may change if our suppliers change them.

15.Suspension and closing accounts

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if we are required to by law, or if keeping it open would expose us or another person to real risk.

We will tell you why, and unless the law or the seriousness of what happened prevents it, we will give you a chance to put it right first. If we close a paid account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the unused portion of what you have paid. You will have at least 30 days to download your work, except where we are legally required to act faster — which is the same period we hold an export for anyway (clause 10), so closing your account never costs you an export you could otherwise still have had.

You can close your account yourself at any time — see clause 4.

16.Changes to these terms and to prices

Prices

We may change our prices. If we do:

  • we will give you at least 30 days’ written notice by email before the new price takes effect;
  • you may cancel at any time before it takes effect, at no cost, and you will not be charged the new price;
  • the price for a period you have already paid for will not change. A new price applies only from your next billing period.

These terms

We may update these terms — for example when the service changes or the law does. If a change disadvantages you, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before it takes effect, and you may cancel before then and receive a pro-rata refund of the unused part of what you have paid. Minor changes that do not disadvantage you — fixing a typo, clarifying wording — take effect when we publish them.

The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version.

17.Our responsibility if something goes wrong

Clause 8 applies first and is not limited by anything here: your consumer guarantees cannot be excluded.

Where the law allows us to limit our liability, and to the extent it does, our total liability to you for any claim connected with Scriptts is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, and — again only where the law allows — we are not liable for loss of profits, loss of business, or loss of data that was not caused by us.

Where a consumer guarantee applies and the law permits us to choose, our liability is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.

You are responsible for what you make with Scriptts and for the consequences of publishing it. If something you do with Scriptts causes a claim against us — for example because you did not have the rights to the material, or you used it in a way the Acceptable Use Policy prohibits — you agree to cover our reasonable costs, except to the extent we caused the problem ourselves.

18.Complaints and disputes

If something is wrong, please tell us first at support@scriptts.app. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and do our best to sort it out quickly. Most things are fixed at this point.

If we cannot resolve it between us, either of us may suggest mediation. Mediation is voluntary — neither of us has to agree to it, and neither of us has to try it before doing anything else.

Nothing here stops you going elsewhere

Nothing in these terms prevents you, at any time, from contacting your state or territory consumer protection agency, from contacting the ACCC, or from starting proceedings in any court or tribunal. You do not need to talk to us first, and you do not need our agreement.

In Victoria that is Consumer Affairs Victoria and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Every state and territory has an equivalent.

19.General

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and we submit to the courts and tribunals of Victoria — but this does not stop you bringing a claim anywhere else the law entitles you to bring it, including in the state or territory where you live.

If you live outside Australia, this clause does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory law of the country where you live, and it does not prevent you from bringing a claim in the courts of that country where its law entitles you to.

The whole agreement

These terms, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Scriptts.

If part of this is unenforceable

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, that part is severed and the rest continues to apply.

Delay is not waiver

If we do not enforce something straight away, we do not lose the right to enforce it later.

Transfers

You may not transfer your account or your rights under these terms to anybody else. We may transfer ours to another company if our business is sold or restructured, provided your rights are not reduced; we will tell you if that happens.

Acceptable Use Policy

Effective 18 August 2026. This policy forms part of the Terms of Service.

The three rules that matter most

Tell people the voices are synthetic. Do not impersonate a real person without their clear permission. Never generate the voice of a politician or government official — not even with their permission.

1.Why this policy exists

Scriptts is built on Microsoft Azure’s speech and translation services. Microsoft requires everyone who builds on those services to impose certain rules on their own users. Most of what follows is therefore not a preference of ours — it is a condition of Scriptts being able to operate at all. Breaking it can cost you your account and can cost us our suppliers.

The rest is ordinary Australian law, named explicitly rather than left to “don’t break the law”, because some of it is criminal and people should not have to guess.

2.You must have the rights to what you put in

You must own, or have permission to use, everything you put into Scriptts — the script text, any images you add, and any voice, likeness or character your output represents. Microsoft places this responsibility on us and we place it on you: if you do not hold the rights, do not put it in.

3.Disclose that the voices are synthetic

When you publish, distribute or play a Scriptts export to anyone, you must make clear that the voices are computer-generated. You must not present it as an authentic recording of a real person, and you must not set it up so that someone else could pass it off as one.

This is explained in clause 11 of the Terms of Service.

4.Impersonation

You must not use Scriptts to impersonate any real person without their explicit and valid permission — including to obtain information, money, access or advantage from anyone.

Politicians and government officials: never

You must not use Scriptts to simulate the voice of a politician or a government official. This applies even if that person has given you their permission. There is no consent that makes this allowed, and there are no exceptions for satire, parody, education or commentary.

You must not claim, or imply, that your output comes from a person, company, government body or other organisation without their explicit permission to say so.

5.Content you must not create

You must not use Scriptts to produce, or help produce, any of the following. This list comes from Microsoft’s Code of Conduct and applies in full:

  • Child sexual exploitation or abuse material of any kind, including material that sexualises a minor, and content that grooms, or depicts the grooming of, a child;
  • Non-consensual intimate content, and content that sexualises a real person without their consent;
  • sexual solicitation, and content that facilitates trafficking;
  • content that is erotic, pornographic or otherwise sexually explicit — and Scriptts may not be used in any application that is sexually explicit;
  • content that encourages, instructs in, or glorifies suicide, self-injury or eating disorders;
  • graphic violence or gore intended to shock or disgust;
  • content supporting, glorifying or facilitating terrorism or violent extremism;
  • threats of violence, or incitement to violence;
  • hate speech, harassment or discrimination against a person or group, including on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age;
  • content that defames, stalks, defrauds, degrades, victimises or intimidates any person;
  • deception and disinformation — including inauthentic activity, fabricated news, and content designed to mislead people about who is speaking or what happened;
  • unsolicited bulk or commercial messaging, or content produced to support it.

6.Some of this is a criminal offence

Two things on the list above are criminal offences in Australia, and we name them so nobody can say they did not realise:

  • Sexual material depicting a real adult without their consent. Under the Criminal Code Amendment (Deepfake Sexual Material) Act 2024 it is an offence to transmit sexual material depicting a person who does not consent, and it makes no difference that the material was generated or altered by technology — in fact creating or altering it that way is an aggravating factor.
  • Child sexual abuse material, in any form, generated or otherwise.

We report this material to the relevant authorities, including the eSafety Commissioner and the police, and we do so without notice to the account holder.

7.Reporting misuse

If you come across something made with Scriptts that breaks this policy, please tell us at support@scriptts.app — put “Abuse report” in the subject line. Tell us what you saw and where you saw it.

We acknowledge abuse reports within 2 business days and act on them as quickly as the circumstances require. You do not need a Scriptts account to report something, and you can do it anonymously.

8.What happens if you break this policy

Depending on what happened, we may remove content, suspend your account, or close it. For anything serious — and always for the offences in clause 6 — we act immediately and without warning, and we report it.

Otherwise we will tell you what the problem is and give you a chance to put it right, as described in clause 15 of the Terms of Service.

If you think we got it wrong

Email support@scriptts.app and a person will look at it again. Clause 18 of the Terms sets out where else you can take a complaint, and none of it requires our agreement.

Privacy Policy

Effective 18 August 2026. How Scoris Ventures Pty Ltd handles your personal information.

The short version

We collect as little as we can — to have an account you give us an email address and a password, and that is it. The scripts you write stay in your own browser, not on our servers. Text you translate or turn into speech goes to Microsoft in Australia, which does not keep it. Your account details are stored in the United States. We do not sell your information, we do not advertise, and we do not use anything you write to train anything.

1.Who we are

Scriptts is operated by Scoris Ventures Pty Ltd (ABN 62 697 021 202), an Australian company based in Victoria.

Our privacy officer is Haris Noor. For anything to do with your privacy — a question, a request to see or correct your information, or a complaint — email support@scriptts.app and mark it for the privacy officer. You can also reach us on +61 411 085 700, or by post at 3507B/100 Harbour Esplanade, Docklands, Victoria 3008, Australia.

As a small business we are not currently bound by the Privacy Act 1988. We have written and follow this policy as though we were, because we think that is the right way to run this and because we expect to be covered as we grow.

2.What we collect

When you create an account

  • Your email address. It is your username, it is how we contact you, and it is the only thing we ask for.
  • Your password, stored only as a cryptographic hash. We cannot read it and we cannot recover it for you.
  • A display name, which is simply the part of your email address before the @.
  • If you turn on two-step verification: a secret key and backup codes, both stored so that only the verification system can use them.

When you use Scriptts

  • Your plan and your usage — which plan you are on, how many characters you have translated this month, and when your month resets.
  • A record of work sent to our suppliers — how many characters were translated or voiced, when, and by which supplier. We use this to see how close our own supplier allowances are to running out.
  • Sign-in records — each time you sign in we store your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string against that session, so you can stay signed in and so we can spot a session being used from somewhere it should not be.

If you arrive through a referral link

  • A cookie recording the referral code and when you clicked, so the person who referred you gets credit. See clause 6.
  • The IP address you signed up from, kept for one purpose only: spotting people creating accounts to award themselves referral rewards. It is not used for anything else, and it is deleted when the account is deleted.

What you make

  • Your scripts and projects live in your own browser, not on our servers. If you clear your browser storage, they are gone — we do not have a copy to restore.
  • Finished exports — the MP3 or MP4 we produce for you — are held in storage for 30 days so you can download them, and are then deleted automatically (clause 7). Download what you make; your script stays in your browser, so you can always re-render.
  • Anything you send to be processed — text to translate or voice, images you add to a storyboard, an audio file you upload to be transcribed — passes through our servers to the supplier that does the work. See clause 4.

If you register your interest

  • Your email address, so we can tell you when Scriptts opens. That is all, and it is all we will use it for (clause 9).

What we never collect

We do not ask for your name, your phone number, your address or your date of birth. We have no advertising, no third-party analytics and no tracking pixels. We do not buy information about you from anyone, and we never sell or rent your information.

3.Why we collect it

We use what we collect only to:

  • give you an account and keep you signed in;
  • do the thing you asked for — translate a line, speak a line, build an export;
  • count your plan usage, so you and we both know where you are against your allowance;
  • send you the emails the service needs to send — password resets, renewal reminders, and notice of changes to these documents;
  • keep accounts secure and detect misuse of the referral rewards;
  • answer you when you contact us, and meet our legal obligations.

We do not use anything you write to train any model, our own or anyone else’s.

4.Who we send it to, and which country they are in

We use a small number of suppliers to run Scriptts. Below is every one of them, what reaches them, and where they are. We do not disclose your information to anyone else, except where clause 5 applies.

Read this bit — it is the part people get wrong

Your content mostly stays in Australia, but your account details do not. Translation and speech happen in Microsoft’s Australian data centres, and your finished exports and the translation memory are held in Australia. But the database holding your email address, password hash and two-step verification secret is on a server in Boston, in the United States, and our email provider is also American.

So: personal information is disclosed to recipients in United States and Global — Microsoft's free consumer service, not pinned to Australia the way our paid Azure resource is. Once information is overseas it is subject to the laws of that country, and it may be accessible to authorities there under their own laws. We take reasonable steps to require our suppliers to protect it, but we cannot promise you the protections of Australian law will apply to them.

What Microsoft does with your text

Microsoft states that text sent to Azure AI Translator is not written to persistent storage and is not used for training, and that for real-time speech synthesis neither the input text nor the output audio is stored in Microsoft’s logs. You can read those statements at Microsoft Translator No Trace and in the Azure text-to-speech data and privacy documentation.

The one exception to the above

On the rare occasion our contracted Azure resource declines a request even after being retried, Scriptts falls back to Microsoft’s own free consumer services — the voice reader built into Edge, and Bing’s translator — so you get a result instead of an error. Microsoft’s No Trace page names these specific products as excluded from the no-retention guarantee above: text and voice sent to them may be recorded for service improvements purposes. This is rare — Azure is retried extensively first — and only ever the same text you were already sending for that one request.

Translations are performed automatically by machine, not by a person.

5.When we would disclose without asking you

We would give your information to somebody else without your agreement only where the law requires or authorises it — a court order, a warrant, or a legal obligation — or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent a serious threat to someone’s life, health or safety, or to report the criminal content described in the Acceptable Use Policy.

If our business were sold or restructured, your information could pass to the buyer. We would tell you before that happened, and this policy would continue to apply until you were told otherwise.

6.Cookies

We use cookies only to make the site work. We have no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics.

CookieWhat it is forHow long it lasts
SessionKeeps you signed in. Without it you would have to sign in on every page.Until it expires or you sign out
ReferralSet when you arrive through somebody's referral link, so they get credit if you sign up. It records the code and the time you clicked.90 days by default

Both are set by us. You can clear them in your browser at any time — clearing the session cookie signs you out, and clearing the referral cookie means the person who referred you may not get credit.

7.How long we keep things

WhatHow long
Your account — email, password hash, planUntil you delete your account, then immediately
Two-step verification secret and backup codesUntil you turn it off, or delete your account
Sign-in records (IP address, user-agent)Until the session expires, or you delete your account
Sign-up IP kept as an anti-abuse signalDeleted the moment you delete your account, even where the referral record itself is kept
Finished exports (the MP3 or MP4 we make for you)30 days from when you make them, then deleted automatically. Email us to have one removed sooner
Working files left over from making an exportDeleted as soon as the export finishes
Shared translation memory90 days from when the text was translated (see below)
Record of characters sent to suppliersKept as a running total. Your identity is removed from it when you delete your account
Register-your-interest email addressUntil you ask us to remove it, or until we have told you we have launched and you have not become a customer

One thing to understand about translation memory

To avoid paying to translate the same sentence twice, we keep translations in a shared store for 90 days, looked up by a hash of the source text. It is shared across all users, so if two people translate the same sentence the second one is free and instant.

The consequence is worth being straight about: deleting your account does not immediately remove text you translated from that shared store — it ages out on its own within 90 days. If you need something removed from it sooner, email us and we will remove it. For that reason, please do not put information into Scriptts that you would not want held for 90 days.

8.How we protect it, and what we can't promise

  • The whole site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and it is not possible to use it without one.
  • Passwords are stored only as hashes. Nobody at Scriptts can read your password.
  • Two-step verification is available to everyone and is required on paid plans and for administrators.
  • Access to the database is limited to what runs the service, and to the operator.

Two honest limitations

Your finished exports are protected by an unguessable link. When Scriptts makes you an MP3 or MP4 it is stored under a randomly generated address. Downloading it through Scriptts requires you to be signed in as the person who made it, but the underlying file is reachable by anyone who has the exact address, which is why the address is long and random rather than sequential. If you share a download link, treat it as public — and note that it stops working once the 30-day window in clause 7 ends.

No system is perfectly secure. We take reasonable steps, but we cannot guarantee that information sent over the internet is completely safe.

9.Emails we send you

If you have an account we will send you the emails the service needs — confirming your account, resetting your password, reminding you before an annual plan renews, and telling you when these documents change. You cannot unsubscribe from those, because they are part of the service, but we keep them to a minimum.

If you gave us your address to register your interest, we will use it to tell you when Scriptts opens, and for nothing else. If we later want to send you anything more than that, we will ask you first and you will have to say yes — we will not treat your silence as agreement.

Every message we send that is not strictly part of the service carries an unsubscribe link and identifies Scoris Ventures Pty Ltd, ABN 62 697 021 202. Unsubscribing takes one click, never asks you to sign in, and is actioned within 5 business days. You can also just email support@scriptts.app and ask to be taken off.

Unsubscribing is not closing your account

These are three different things and doing one never does another:

  • Unsubscribe (link in any marketing email) — stops those emails. Your account, plan and work are untouched, and you still get essential emails like password resets.
  • Cancel paid plan (account menu) — billing stops at the end of the period you have paid for. Your account stays open, and any export still inside its 30-day window stays downloadable. Cancelling does not shorten that window.
  • Delete account (account menu) — removes your account and your work. This one is permanent.

10.Seeing, correcting and deleting your information

Deleting it yourself

You can delete your account at any time: account menu → Delete account. It asks for your password and a confirmation, and then it really does delete — your account, your sign-in records, your two-step verification secret, your sign-up IP and any finished exports we are still holding for you all go. The exceptions are the shared translation memory described in clause 7, and records we are required to keep by law.

Seeing or correcting it

Email support@scriptts.app and ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct something. We will respond within 30 days, and there is no charge. If we cannot do what you have asked, we will tell you why in writing.

11.If you are unhappy with how we handled your information

Tell us first — email support@scriptts.app, marked for the privacy officer. We will acknowledge within 5 business days, look into it, and give you a written answer within 30 days explaining what we found and what we are doing.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. You do not need our agreement to do that, and you can do it at any time.

12.If something goes wrong with your data

If we become aware of a data breach we will assess it promptly. Where it is likely to result in serious harm to anyone, we will notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, and we will tell you what happened, what information was involved, and what you should do.

13.Children

Scriptts is for people aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone younger. If we find out that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it and its contents.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account, email support@scriptts.app and we will delete it and confirm to you in writing.

14.Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will publish the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect.
